Today we will talk about the soul of a singer, it’s slightly a different soul than others. Artists see the world with their artistic eyes and want to convey that with their art. Singer calms you, makes you sad, makes you happy, all that with just one song. This singer is a friend of mine, we are colleagues at work. It took just a week for me to know him very well and make good friends with him. That’s the thing about an artist, once you know them, there is no going back.

Beginning:

Let us go a little back in time to get to know the soul of a singer better. Mustafa Gillani, a talent in the making. Born in Dubai, and luckily for us now he’s in Pakistan to entertain us all. He has done BBA from FAST University. But, his real talent is outside of the books, he was born to sing and boy did he do that. Believe me, I can hear him singing in the background as I write this. Don’t envy me, I am just a lucky person.

His permanent residency is in a city named Kohat, he now resides in Islamabad. He is just 24 years old and has a lot to learn. Hopefully, he will be a big hit.

 

First song:

He told me that the first song he sang was at the age of 6. Yes, at just 6yrs of age he was already humming songs with his mother on a tape. The first song was “Sham dhally khidki talay tum seti bajana chor do”. He sang this song at his uncle’s wedding, and the response was huge. People gave him money, hugs, and appraised his talent. That’s when he said to himself, “I think I’m going to be a singer one day”. We rarely see dreams becoming reality, he’s living his dream to the fullest.

Favorite singers:

Being a Pakistani, this soul of a singer loves all the great Pakistani singers, to name a few here is the list:

1. Nusrat
2. Rahat
3. Atta Ullah
4. Atif Aslam
5. Aima Baig
6. Abdullah Qureshi

 

Mustafa & Corona:

The year 2020 and we don’t talk about the corona, it’s just not possible. As Mustafa was becoming more and more prominent with little gigs here and there and with some acoustic performances. In the middle of all this, the corona hit him hard. He didn’t get the virus, but his art caught corona. He was no more performing, artists became frustrated and hopeless. But he continued practicing with his friends and he’s jamming once a week.

Future:

The future looks bright for this young singer, he is just 24yrs old. He has a lot of room to improve and make himself even greater. Coming years will make him more of a star. He is already working on his original songs and will release them soon. He recently got a New Year gig performance but again corona got in the way. Nevertheless, he’s going to perform this weekend and luckily for me, I don’t have anything else to do but to listen to him singing.

Some tips from the pro:

1. Everyone can sing, practice hard.
2. Sing as loud and as much as you can
3. Some people are GOD gifted, but they practice too. So, just sing!
